Safety-Tip
Recently an email has been making the rounds on the net, warning of possible dangers you can encourage by unsafe refueling practices. This email has remarks regarding cellular phones, victim gender and footware that are inaccurate. To get the real story on refueling safety tips go to www.pei.org/news/static. Though this is not a "safety-tip" in the traditional sense of the word, we believe misleading and inaccurate information can be dangerous and we should all do our part to ensure accuracy when distributing information.
FCC ISSUES A RASH OF FINES
The Commission is continuing to flex its enforcement muscle by issuing a number of monetary forfeitures. Here are some recent examples: $2,500 to a telephone company for failing to
exhibit prescribed (tower) painting; $4,000 to a CATV operator for failing to retransmit the EAS required
monthly test; $10,000 to a communications operator for failing to exhibit prescribed obstruction lighting on its antenna structure; $10,000 to a FM pirate; $15,000 to an AM radio station for failing to maintain operational EAS equipment, and for failing to enclose the station's antenna tower within an effective locked fence.
.... AND STILL MORE FINES
$5,000 to an AM station for failing to maintain a record of the station's efficiency factor "F" used to determine its operating power, and for operating with power in excess of 105% of the authorized power; $10,000 to an AM radio station for failing to register its antenna structure and failing to
maintain a presence at its main studio during its normal business hours; $20,000 to a company for operation of radio transmission equipment without the required Commission authorization, and use of a radio frequency device that failed to comply with Commission regulations.
